Up In Smoke

Ccong

I saw Up In Smoke again for the first time in 15+ years and I enjoyed it greatly. Cheech and Chong are hilarious (as expected) but the performance of Stacy Keach is over the top awesome.

If you have never seen this film, please do so. It is the womb of marijuana comedy.

Senator Al Franken

January 4th, 2009

Al Franken

One of my favorite SNL cast members has finally won his senate seat after a recount circus.

The man is very funny and I am glad to see him win.

A Return To The Rat Race

January 2nd, 2009

For the past 2 years I have been able to enjoy a life that allowed me to work on a website and do stand up comedy freely.  After an unfortunate turn of events, I find myself without pay holding a contract that expires next Nov.  I knew I may have to return to a day job; I just thought I had another year to go.

Looking for work sucks right now in southern Ontario, and if I cannot find a job here, who knows what will happen.  I’m not alone however, and I’m oddly comforted knowing that many are sharing my unfortunate situation.

Watching movies for a living is a tough job to beat, but I don’t fear the return to a day job.  In the past I have enjoyed office work very much and have met incredible people though previous employment.  I have discovered that every job is an opportunity to learn and I sincerely hope to find rewarding employment that will teach me new and rewarding skill sets.

Gods of labor, grant me bounty.  Lords of the resume guide my hand.  Sirens of the interview grant me the charm to gain favor.

A Delightful Holiday Season

December 30th, 2008

This holiday season I did a tremendous amount of visiting, and I was blessed for it.  I missed my family and friends very much when I was back in California and it was good to see many of them over the break.

The focus of the holidays sadly is often on the buying, giving and getting of gifts.  I love gifts as much as the next guy, but it’s important to realize that the specialness of the holidays is when you spend time with the people (or cats) that are closest to you.

Arctic Wear

December 21st, 2008

For reasons unknown, I have not owned a pair of winter boots in years. I kept putting off the purchase and simply wore shoes in the snow.

This was idiotic.

Today I had to go out and shovel 2 driveways and I realized that it would probably be in my interest to buy appropriate clothes. I do after all live in an arctic nation.

I purchased some work socks (that double as slippers in the cold months), Work King coveralls and a pair of Kamic -40 hunting boots. All of the items were made in Canada and I purchased everything at the TSC.

I have never been to a TSC before, but will gladly go back. Canadian Tire had no boots my size, nor did Marc’s Work Warehouse – TSC had all the shit; so they got my business.

I love the thermal coverall suit. It zips down the leg for easy entry and is warm while still being breathable. The boots are flat out fantastic. They are oil and acid resistant, are rated for -40 Celcius, have a steel toe and are as waterproof as you can get.

For the first time in years i didn’t get soaked walking around in the cold. I look forward to years of wintertime fun in my new gear.
